It will also be a fun change in style for older kids, especially the equations and illustrated thought bubbles. I believe this can help younger kids feel more confident in their ability to follow the story. I think this is a very interesting and potentially helpful tool in this book’s arsenal. Perhaps the most unique thing about Owly is the fact that he does not talk. The length is also very good because it could also be an introduction to longer “Chapter” books that require putting down and coming back to for younger children. The actual art style of each character and animal is very cute and loveable, making you automatically drawn into each character. The plot is very straight forward but still has some fun lessons about kindness and friendship. Owly The Way Home is a very fun, simple read for the younger readers and a great introduction to graphic novels. Owly does not talk, but rather speaks through his expressions and sometimes punctuation and little illustrated thought bubbles. This leads him on little adventures with new friends. Owly is graphic novel about a cute owl who simply wants to help others. Warnings: Mild peril, kids over the age of 10 may find this book too easy or boring.
